Why Mother's Day

Mother's Day is an annual holiday that honors all women who are mothers. In the Netherlands, this day falls on the second Sunday in the month of May. Mother's Day is the perfect day to put mother in the spotlight and to take a special moment to reflect on how valuable and special she is.

Does Mother's Day also exist abroad?

Yes, Mother's Day exists abroad. In most countries even on the same day as in the Netherlands. Father's Day is celebrated in Belgium on the second Sunday of June. (in the Netherlands on the third Sunday of June). But our southern neighbors celebrate Mother's Day on the same day.
The French celebrate Mother's Day on May 28. But the English do not celebrate it in May but on March 26.
In France people also celebrate Grandmother's Day. This is only celebrated in France, other countries do not have this. Maybe a nice future tradition for the Netherlands?
In the Czech Republic, mothers celebrate Mother's Day on March 8 and the second Sunday of May. They have a pampering day twice a year.
